Armadillo shoes and Alexander McQueen. Great artist, no doubt. But about these shoes I have some doubts. Protagonists between 2009 and 2010, popular, they did talk about themselves.
I had already said here that I would dedicate a few posts doubts and misgivings that some collections, a few pieces, create in me. That's what I want to talk about today.
Why not start with a piece that involves the collection of this winter, and even those of the next spring? Because, and here I haven't doubt, these shoes are the piece that I haven't included in the collections of recent years.
Iconic, quirky, and even vivid.
Amazing invention. Cheeky creativity.
But really, who wears them except a few eccentric music star?
For long we have seen on the catwalks of great talent, improbable clothing and accessories, many of which would not place, many of whom never even would buy. These shoes are a prime example.
The magical aspect of an accessory like the shoe, is the fascination it exerts over us, making us want to have it, to wear it.
With regard to this shoe .. well, between the same models that were supposed to take them on the runway, there were second thoughts. Some haven't wanted to wear, even for work.
The stated and obvious creativity collides with a realization of the practical unlikely. The design takes precedence over function, suppressing almost in favor of something more noble, form. Almost a struggle between form and content, where the form is treated in detailas if it were a work of art, and content that identifies the function is secondary. Here's what I see: an eccentric design work, an extraordinary work of contemporary art.
Design, materials, details of the highest level.
Comfort, convenience and functionality apparently forgotten. And perhaps not so much apparently.
Honestly?
Great piece of design, to be purchased as an elegant and refined piece of furniture.

Vi avevo già detto qui che avrei dedicato qualche post ai dubbi e alle perplessità che alcune collezioni, alcuni pezzi, creano in me. Ecco quello di cui voglio parlare oggi.
Perché cominciare da un pezzo che non interessa le collezioni di questo inverno e nemmeno quelle della prossima primavera? Perché, e qui senza dubbio, questa scarpa è il pezzo che ho meno compreso nelle collezioni degli ultimi anni.
Iconiche, eccentriche, e anche icastiche.
Incredibile inventiva. Creatività sfacciata.
Ma realmente, chi le indosserebbe se non qualche eccentrica star della musica?
Per tempo abbiamo visto sfilare sulle passerelle di grandi talenti, capi e accessori improbabili, molti dei quali non metteremmo mai, molti dei quali non compreremmo neanche mai. Questa scarpe ne sono un esempio lampante.
L'aspetto magico di un accessorio come la scarpa, sta nel fascino che esercita su di noi, facendoci desiderare di averla, di indossarla.
Per quanto riguarda questa scarpa..beh, tra le stesse modelle che avrebbero dovuto portarle sulle passerelle ci sono stati dei ripensamenti. Alcune non le hanno volute indossare, neanche per lavoro.
La creatività dichiarata e lampante si scontra con una realizzazione dalla praticità improbabile. Il design prevale sulla funzione, quasi sopprimendola in favore di qualcosa di più nobile, la forma. Quasi una lotta tra forma e contenuto, dove la forma è curata nel dettaglio quasi fosse un'opera d'arte, e il contenuto che identifica la funzione è secondario. Ecco cosa vedo: una eccentrica opera di design, una straordinaria opera d'arte contemporanea.
Design, materiali, dettagli di altissimo livello.
Comodità, praticità e funzionalità apparentemente dimenticati. E forse neanche così tanto apparentemente.
Onestamente?
Grandissimo pezzo di design, da acquistare come elegante e ricercato componente d'arredo.
